Literature Text
Nighttime. A dark abode of many things;
Absent of people. Towering in madness,
A beacon to the masses; your own religion's steeple.
Devoid all at once. We've lost sight.
The light turned out, or someone shut it off.
Hiding in your conscience’s chapel, showcase of a dunce.
It was a bad idea, I had said.
This concoction of a mad,
Mad doctor.
You should have denied him. Rejected.
I told you. Pathetic in your will.
Conform to others before yourself, your spinelessness perfected.
He came in quietly, you did as you were told,
The costs unknown to you. But I knew.
And I told you.
But you would not listen.
He stalks the night, I had said.
No boy, no man, a plight
Trailing in his wake.
Not vengeance, I had said.
But a will I never knew you had.
You're eagerness to kill,
End a life as you've ended you own.
Projection strikes again, and then
You're left alone.
Facing yourself. A reflection
Without a mirror. You stare taking no action;
Your eyes are the only movement.
It's me, you see. You see?
You should, I had said. We
Warned you. Go back to bed,
New Mr. Hyde. Not man enough
To be the villain. You abide in no
Lonely mansion, but with us.
I turn you away. Go back to bed,
New Mr. Hyde. This is no play,
This is no stage- remove your mask.
You are no Mr. Hyde. My son,
You are me, cloned by another's flesh,
And I crafted your mold.
You are who you were, all because of me.
Now, you are no Mr. Hyde,
Only in the moment's spur
You thought you were.
I turn you away.
